Return to Country Cabin Manor for a restful evening with hot chocolate, games, puzzles, TV, a good book, or just watch movies in your room.

Cross Country Nordic Ski Trails on NY State Forest land are located just 5 minutes from Country Cabin Manor. We have trail maps for you so bring your cross country ski gear, or rent cross country ski equipment at Swain after you've spent a day there doing downhill skiing. |

Return to the fun-filled days of
your childhood with
some old fashioned downhill sledding on runner sleds and toboggans. We can provide sleds for you and show you the safest place in the village to use them. Make snow angels or a snowman in the back yard. Indulge in an old fashioned snowball fight - Just watch out for any windows nearby!!!

Spend a day enjoying the snow-covered beauty of the village of Alfred.... Sip hot coffee at the Terra Cotta Coffee House on Main Street... Photograph many of the beautiful old homes dressed in snow and icicles... Enjoy a concert from the Davis Memorial Carillon on the Alfred University Campus.. Shop for local pottery in several area gift shops......

old fashioned horse-drawn sleigh. Contact Wolcott Farms to make arrangements. They also rent Snowmobiles by the hour or by the day. |

Whether you come to Alfred to visit family or just to get away for a holiday respite, join us in December when there is always the possibility of a White Christmas! Spend all or part of your Christmas vacation with us. Christmas dates fill up fast, so be sure to book early!

If Ice Skating is your chosen winter recreation, we have just the
plan for your day!
The Civic Center Outdoor Ice Arena in Corning, NY, is a one hour drive from our home. It is a covered, lit outdoor ice skating rink that is open day and night for family skating. They also rent skates. While in Corning, visit the Corning Museum of Glass and the Rockwell Museum of Western Art The lovely shops and boutiques on Corning's Market Street, along with cafes, will provide you with shopping and eating opportunities, as well as a break from the cold weather.

| Niagara Falls in its winter dress is a beautiful sight to behold! Just a two hour drive takes you to the Falls. If you have never seen the Falls, don't miss the opportunity to add this side trip to your itinerary. In December you can view the Festival of Lights in Niagara Falls, NY. Be sure to view the Falls from both the U.S. and Canada and stay for the evening light show, best viewed from the Canadian side! |

Drive 1 hour northwest to Arcade, NY and take a trip on the Arcade & Attica Railroad. Winter excursions include Murder Mystery Dinner trains, the Santa Claus trains and the Polar Express, where you arrive in your pajamas and take a ride through the wintry countryside, enjoying the view along with a mug of hot chocolate. Check their website for excursion dates, times, and rates.
